Mallorca’s top 6 favorite beaches of the locals – No. 2: CALA MESQUIDA
White sandy beach with spectacular sand dunes on the northeast coast
Cala Mesquida is a beautiful, long sandy beach, embraced by rocks. You find there a magnificent dune landscape and pine tree forests in the north of Cala Ratjada. Cala Mesquida is about 350 meters long, shaped like a bay and blessed with fine, white, soft sand. Turquoise blue water glistens in the sun – a small piece of Mallorcan paradise in northeastern Mallorca.
The stunning dune landscape is located directly on the beach and extends away from the bay, towards the interior. Which is unique in Mallorca and offers great opportunities for walks, hiking tours. You can go to the next beaches or even for a ride on horseback.
The local people love Cala Mesquida, especially the families, due to its conditions the beach is children friendly, with pretty shallow water and a lot of space for playing. The area is ideal for a picnic under the pine trees, while the children whiz with surfboards from the huge dunes almost into the sea. Only during strong north or east wind you’ll find high waves, then Cala Mesquida is a hot spot for the surfers. The beach is guarded. The active ones will like sports activities like scuba diving, snorkeling and pedal boating. On the beach there is a beach bar with a restaurant.
