June 2021 Majorca

4 June 2021 |

Summer is around the corner and many of us have been longing, for a long time, to return to our favourite dreamy Balearic Island in the Mediterranean, Mallorca. Summer in Majorca starts in June and lasts until September. June is one of the best months to visit Mallorca due to many hours of sunshine with long and bright summer days, minimal rain and low humidity levels. This leaves you feeling energized and makes it ideal for outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, beach volleyball, padel, tennis, water sports and much more. The sea is warm enough to go swimming and you can enjoy your evenings “al fresco”. The boat business is really starting to pick up in June as well, whereas in July and August, it is at its peak.
In other words, Majorca is the best place to be In June if you like outdoor activities!

Majorca has a packed calendar of events in June of which we have picked some of the highlights. See below for our tips.

We hope to see you in Majorca this summer!

Sant Pere Festival 22-29 of June 2021, Port d’Alcudia

The port of Alcúdia, located 1 km from the centre of Alcúdia, celebrates the festivities of its patron saint, Saint Peter, the patron saint of fishermen, every 29th June.
For a whole week, there are open-air dances, concerts, children’s parties, cultural and sporting activities, etc. The procession by sea and land of the patron saint, which takes place at around 7 pm on the 29th, accompanied by the Alcúdia Municipal Music Band, is particularly noteworthy. The fishermen pick up the image of the Saint and carry it to the boat. The procession by sea begins, followed by numerous boats decorated and “dressed” in colour for the occasion. The uniqueness of this procession, together with the spectacular nature that characterises it, makes it one of the key events of the summer.
In the evening, on the 29th of June, the festivities end with music and an impressive fireworks display, which takes place on the beach. https://feriasyfiestasdemallorca.com/evento/fiestas-de-sant-pere-en-alcudia.

Nit de Foc – the Night of Sant Joan, 23d of June 2021

Majorca is packed with events throughout the month of June and one of the biggest festivals that the island has to offer is the Night of Sant Joan (“Nit de Foc”), 23d of June, where the locals come together in colourful parties to celebrate the day of Saint John the Baptist and bring to life the many of the island’s cities and villages. The most famous locations to celebrate are Palma, Capdepera, Alaró, Sóller and Manacor. The one in Palma always takes place in El Parc de Mar, in front of the majestic cathedral. The festivities begin during the day where you can find traditional food and dancing on the streets but once the sun sets the demons come out on the streets with their fire and light show, the “correfocs”, accompanied by people dancing to the beats of drums and flutes. The entire town is transformed onto a real hell show! Pop concerts, bonfires, fireworks, street parties, and many other exciting events take place during the festival. If you prefer a more tranquil celebration you can go to the beach where
bon fires and candles are lit while people of all ages gather, equipped with picnics and drinks from early in the evening. This is a magical evening associated with the idea of renewal.
