Most people like to come to Majorca during the summer months (June, July and August) but those who remain on the island all year around know that Majorca is just as amazing in autumn, and they are treated to another side of this beautiful island. September is when the children go back to school and most Spaniards are back from their holidays, but the island continues with the holiday vibes. The weather in September starts to cool down and it is more likely to rain this month, but the showers are usually short and quickly followed by sun, so you still get to enjoy plenty of sun and blue skies. Still no need for long sleeved shirts. Sea temperature is still around 25 degrees, perfect for taking a refreshing swim.
If you enjoy outdoor activities September is the perfect month to do it, whether it be hiking in the Tramuntana, doing water sports, renting a yacht, going on a fantastic bicycle ride, following wine trails, taking a morning balloon ride, rock-climbing, dining al fresco, going to concerts and local festivals or improving your golf.

Deia International Music Festival 2021, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23d and 30th of September.
This festival started 28 years ago with a vocal ensemble formed by people from the village of Deia and has grown into becoming an internationally recognized festival offering classical music, performed by well-known guest artists from all over the world. This could become an experience to remember not only for having listened to wonderful music but also for having enjoyed the breath-taking views of Son Marroig, where the concerts are held. Festes del Rei en Jaume, 2021, 27th Aug – 5th September, Santa Ponça.
The Festes del Rei En Jaume is the most representative festive event of the municipality of Calvía, commemorating the landing of the troops of Jaume I on the coast of Santa Ponça in 1229 and the beginning of the reconquest of the island from the moors. It is a fun-packed fiesta with a varied programme of traditional, cultural and leisure events including Nordic Walking (4th Sept), “nit de foc” (night of fire) and the re-enactment of the battle between the Moors and Christians
Origen Fest 2021, 9th September, Son Fusteret, Palma de Mallorca.
The best electronic music artists in Palma de Mallorca. Has become the EDM festival of choice on the island of Mallorca, only having existed since 2018.
Fiesta d’Es Vermar, Wine Festival, 2021, 12th – 28th September, Binissalem.
This year the town of Binissalem celebrates the 50th anniversary The Vermar festivities are the most important festivities in Binissalem. The winemaking tradition of this town means that the time of “Sa Vermada” (the grape harvest) is a time for celebrations. Thus, for two or three weeks in September, a large number of festive activities are organised in Binissalem, many of them directly related to the world of wine. These include the wine treading contest, the “fideus de vermar” dinners, the parade of floats, the grape battle and the wine fair. The highlight of the festival is the grape battle where we would recommend you were old clothes. The festival’s event programme also includes live music, activities for children, wine tasting sessions, grape-stomping competitions and much more.
Nit d’el Art 2021, 16th – 18th September, Palma.
Nit d’el Art is an annual night art fair in Palma where the galleries, art studios and museums all inaugurate exhibitions of vibrant contemporary art on the same night. The old town is transformed into a large open-air art exhibition. Young talents and professionals from the artistic community take advantage of every corner to show their work to the public. Bars, cafés, workshops, rooftops, facades of historic buildings, shop windows or balconies, any space is valid for displaying their works!
In addition to this feast of ingenuity, Palma’s museums and galleries open their doors to the public during the night so that you can admire their collections. And what’s more, it’s completely free of charge. In past editions, music and performances have also found their place in this magical night.
Each edition of the event is unique and surprising, as the organisers (Art Palma Contemporani and AIGAB) keep the official programme secret until a few days before the event, sometimes even hours beforehand. In this way, they guarantee that the Nit de l’Art will be an evening full of surprises.
This year it will celebrate its 25th anniversary! You do not have to be an art lover to appreciate this memorable and sociable art event.

COVID UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 2021
Balearic Islands, reverse the de/escalation due to the wave of infections.
New restrictive measures have been launched due to the increase in infections until 15th of September 2021, when they will be updated, depending on the current situation at that time. The main novelties of the restrictions are as follows:
-Restoration, bars and cafeterias must close earlier, from 2:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., and the number of diners per table is reduced: from 12 to 8 outdoors and from 6 to 4 indoors.
–Beaches and parks will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Likewise, all social and family meetings both indoors and outdoors between 1:00 and 6:00 are limited.
–Cultural events should reduce their capacity to 2,500 outdoors and 500 indoors. On the other hand, the Government has announced fines for participating in ‘botellones’ (binge drinking) from 1,000 to 5,000 euros, in the most serious case of breaking a quarantine.
-With regard to the use of the mask, whenever a social distance of one and a half metres cannot be guaranteed and when there is a possibility of concurrence in the same space with other persons not living together, persons over six years of age must wear a mask, both on public roads or in open-air spaces and in enclosed spaces for public use or in public areas of buildings, whether publicly or privately owned, with the exceptions indicated by law.
-Dancing is not allowed indoors or outdoors. The activity of discos, party rooms and dance halls is still suspended.
